Forgotten Children's Fund
About
FCF Christmas, they say, is for kids. But for many children, Christmas is the saddest time of the year. So it was with a boy named Craig who wrote a letter to Santa Claus in December 1976. That letter never reached Santa, but it did reach a restaurant in Seattle, Washington called Francisco’s. And it reached people’s hearts! From that night in 1976, The Forgotten Children’s Fund has grown into a group of dedicated people who enhance the true spirit of Christmas through the gift of sharing. Every year, The Forgotten Children’s fund volunteers work together to raise money to purchase, wrap, and deliver gifts to needy children and their families. There are no administration costs nor paid staff. Help is 100% volunteer. All money collected goes directly to needy children. Because of supplier contributions and purchasing relationships, each dollar contributed to the Fund is “tripled.” Each child receives a new winter coat, a bicycle (if desired) and safety helmet and at least three toys! Food staples and warm blankets for the family are also incorporated into the package. The gifts are delivered by Santa Claus himself. Families are selected on the basis of need. Typically, the families we help are not assisted by other public or charitable organizations. Each family is contacted to determine special needs along with the children’s names, ages and clothing sizes. In some cases, help extends beyond presents to include donations of groceries or payment of fuel or utility expenses. In 1976 The Forgotten Children’s Fund helped 285 children in 81 families. We are currently serving more than 2,900 children in 800 families! Together, we can make a difference and bring joy and much needed help to local families this Holiday season!
