Christmas, they say, is for kids. But for many children,
Christmas is the saddest time of the year. So it was with a
boy named Craig who wrote a letter to Santa Claus in
December 1976. That letter never reached Santa, but it did
reach a restaurant in Seattle, Washington called
Francisco’s. And it reached people’s hearts! From that night
in 1976, The Forgotten Children’s Fund (FCF) has grown into
a group of dedicated people who enhance the true spirit of
Christmas through the gift of sharing.

The
Forgotten Children's Fund is an all volunteer organization
and retains no salaried employees. Every
year, volunteers work together
to raise money to purchase, wrap, and deliver gifts to needy
children and their families. Because of supplier
contributions and purchasing relationships, each dollar
contributed to the Fund is stretched to its fullest.

Each
child receives a new winter coat, and at least three toys!
Some lucky children even get a bicycle and helmet. Food staples and warm
blankets for the family are also incorporated into the
package. The gifts are delivered by Santa Claus himself.
Families
are selected on the basis of need. Typically, the families
we help are not assisted by other public or charitable
organizations. Each family is contacted to determine special
needs along with the children’s names, ages and clothing
sizes. In some cases, help extends beyond presents to
include donations of groceries or payment of fuel or utility
expenses. The FCF currently operates in King County, Pierce
County, North Counties (including Skagit, Island, Snohomish
and Whatcom Counties) and Chelan Counties of Washington
State.
In 1976
The Forgotten Children’s Fund helped 285 children in 81
families. We are currently serving more than 2,900 children
in 800 families! Together, we can make a difference and
bring joy and much needed help to local families this
Holiday season!
